Make Carol’s Cookies from The Walking Dead! #CarolsCookies
You might not know this, but I have to tell you that my family and I are HUGE fans of The Walking Dead.
If you're also a fan, I PROMISE I won't write any spoilers in this post. The only thing you need to know is that in last week's episode (episode 513) Carol made some cookies and they were very popular, especially with one little boy.
Continue below to find out how you can make your own batch of Carol's Cookies!

In a world facing the zombie apocalyse, you can pretty much assume that the ingredients for delicious cookies would be scarce. Somehow, the character Carol was able to create an absolutely delicious basic cookie recipe using only what she had on hand.
She didn't have eggs so she used applesauce as a binding agent. I know I've used this as a substitute for eggs before in quite a few cookie recipes and it works splendidly.
Judging from the recipe she also did her best to conserve the ingredients she has on hand – she uses only about 1/4 of a cup or 1/4 tsp for much of the recipe.

Part of her secret to these yummy cookies was to add 1/4 of a large chocolate bar. The recipe doesn't specify exactly what kind of chocolate bar she used so I opted for using a plain milk chocolate – I would assume this might be the easiest kind to find during a zombie apocalypse.
She only uses 1/4 of the chocolate bar so the cookies don't really come out “chocolatey” but it certainly adds some flavour, considering she seemed to be without some spices to add to the dough.
If you'd like, I think Carol wouldn't mind if you added a pinch of cinnamon or ginger to the recipe just to add a bit more flavour. I think she would have if she had it available. 🙂
These were moist and chewy and were quite good considering how basic the ingredients are!
We enjoyed these cookies – but my son especially enjoyed them so I think Carol would be very pleased with that! 🙂
I encourage you to try these out for yourself! Check out the recipe below!

NOTE: I was NOT compensated for this post. I created this post as a tribute to one of my favourite shows. The recipe was created by AMC and I have just made these cookies according to their recipe.
Are you a fan of The Walking Dead and would you try Carol's cookies?
I love to hear from my readers so please feel free to leave a comment in the comment section below! 🙂

Pretty sure she said she used beets for the sweetness, where are the beets??
Hi Linda!
You’re right, in the most recent episode this season she definitely used beets for sweetness. 🙂
The recipe in this post is from the first time she made cookies back in season 5. I have yet to figure out her exact recipe for the beet cookies but I’ll definitely do a post about it when I do! 😀 I can barely stand it waiting for the next episode, how about you?
Thanks so much for checking out the recipe and I hope to make Carol’s most recent cookies soon!

Ooooh! Adding ginger to the recipe sounds like a wonderful idea! I don’t watch the Walking Dead, but these cookies sound quite good!
My son and I only watched the Walking Dead marathon once and that was it. Would love to watch it again though. The hubs doesn’t like zombies so he’s not interested to watch. But I’ll bet he’ll be interested in those cookies. 🙂

Once you catch up you’ll see! It’s a very good episode! 😀

I don’t watch the Walking Dead but a lot of my friends do. This sounds like a great recipe. I have never used applesauce in a cooking recipe. That is a great idea and I am going to try it.
