Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb lean ground pork
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 medium onions, finely chopped
  • 4 ribs celery, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp Beef bouillon powder
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1/4 tsp sage flakes
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 (5.5 oz) can tomato paste
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup milk
  • Prepared pasta of your choice – we like spaghetti

Instructions

  1. Cook onions and garlic in large skillet or frying pan on medium heat for about 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Add carrots and celery. Cook to soften – about 10 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef and ground pork. Stir to combine. Add spices, sugar and boullion. Cook 5 minutes.
  4. Add tomato paste, stir to combine with meat and seasonings. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes and diced tomatoes. Stir to combine. Bring to a boil.
  6. Lower the heat, add milk, stir and let simmer for at least 30 minutes stirring occasionally.
  7. Serve with cooked pasta of your choice!
