Inspiration is everywhere! 😀 I get inspiration for my recipes from a variety of sources – magazines, cookbooks, cooking shows, blogs, restaurants and from family and friends. I love using new flavors and techniques to change up classic recipes.
My favorite and most treasured source of inspiration is from the memories I have of my grandmother's cooking when I grew up on her farm as a child.
If you'd like to feature one of my posts on your site, you may as long as the guidelines below are followed:

- Include proper credit
ex. Old Fashioned Chicken Soup from Scratch from Dishes & Dust Bunnies - If you make a recipe from Dishes & Dust Bunnies and would like to share the results on your own blog, please re-write the recipe in your own words and include a link back to the original post. Let me know if you post something and I'll check it out! 😀

I'm all about experimenting and trying new things, so if you'd like to try substituting an ingredient, go for it! With that in mind, if you do make a substitution or use a technique other than what I mentioned in the original recipe, I can't guarantee it will turn out the same.I'm all about experimenting and trying new things, so if you'd like to try substituting an ingredient, go for it! That sucks – I'm sorry to hear a recipe didn't turn out for you! 🙁
It can be hard to pin point what exactly went wrong in a recipe since there are many factors involved – an ingredient may have been forgotten, is expired, was measured incorrectly, oven temperature issues or technique – or it might be something as simple as a typo on the site. I'd love to help you figure out what went wrong, so if you're really not sure about something please contact me! 🙂
If you're looking for a particular recipe, please check out my Recipe Index or you can use the search box at the top of my site.
No, I don't follow a particular diet. I enjoy a wide range of foods and eat just about whatever I please! I'm a fan of old fashioned home cooking and comfort food/soul food – especially anything cheesy, meaty, saucy, ‘noodley' or chocolatey. 😀
Many of my recipes can be adapted to suit other diets by using substitutions, etc. Since I'm not a dietitian or expert in all different diets, unfortunately I can't give specific recommendations on substitutions, etc.
As I'm not a dietitian, unfortunately I don't feel comfortable providing the nutritional info for my recipes. Another reason I don't include specific nutritional info on the site is that the calorie amounts/data for a recipe can vary quite a bit depending on the product used. For example, mayonnaise you use in a recipe may be different than what I use (ex. product brand, lighter version, substitution, etc) – this would change the nutritional info.
To keep it simple, I leave it open for you to decide which brands and products are best for your individual diet. From time to time, I'll let you know what my favorite products/brands are and if they're also right for you – awesome! If not, that's ok too. 🙂
If you'd like, you can get a rough idea of the nutritional info for a recipe by using one of the many calorie counter websites found online.
Good news! Dishes & Dust Bunnies now welcomes guest posts!
