Description
This Easter crack (saltine cracker toffee with Mini Eggs) is an easy, irresistible treat made with buttery toffee, smooth milk chocolate, and crunchy candy-coated chocolate eggs. It’s sweet, salty, and perfect for sharing—whether you’re making a quick Easter dessert or a fun homemade candy everyone will love.
Ingredients
- 1 sleeve saltine crackers (enough to cover a baking sheet)
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1½ cups milk chocolate chips – use more if you like!
- 1 bag Cadbury Mini Eggs (about 1 lb / 400–450 g)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer to cover the sheet.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Bring to a boil and let it bubble for 3–4 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the crackers and spread gently.
- Bake for 5 minutes, until bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle milk chocolate chips over the top. Let sit for 2–3 minutes to soften, then spread into an even layer.
- Sprinkle the Mini Eggs evenly over the melted chocolate.
- Lift the baking sheet slightly and gently tap it on the counter a few times to help the Mini Eggs settle into the chocolate.
- Refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until fully set.
- Break into pieces and serve.
Notes
Tapping the tray helps the Mini Eggs settle into the chocolate without leaving fingerprints, keeping the chocolate smooth and the toppings neat without needing to press them down.
Some Mini Eggs will naturally crack when you break the toffee into pieces, but leaving them whole gives the best texture and appearance—you can chop them beforehand if you prefer smaller pieces.
You may not need the entire bag, but using plenty gives that thick, bakery-style topping.
Don’t overcook the toffee—3–4 minutes of bubbling is perfect.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for longer storage.
