This past weekend we had the opportunity of visiting the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Toronto at the Vaughn Mills Mall.
Ever since I had heard that this was coming to the mall a few years ago, I wanted to visit and see what it was all about.
Let me tell you – It was an absolutely wonderful way to spend time with a family and step into another world for the day!
LEGOLAND is packed with a tremendous amount of things to do and there's something for everyone. Every single moment of our visit was spectacular and pure joy!
I'm seriously not exaggerating – I didn't see a single frown in the place. Everyone there – the kids, parents and even the employees seemed very happy to be there!
The moment we stepped inside we were greeted by all things LEGO. There were quite a few large and impressive figures completely made of LEGO.
The first part of the exhibit we were able to learn about how LEGO is created. My son Donnie, who's 2 years old enjoyed how interactive and hands-on everything was.
He even got to take home his very own LEGO brick from this part of the exhibit.
The next part of the adventure was the Kingdom Quest ride. We rode in a small car on a track as we shot laser guns at targets to build up points along the way. It was a lot of fun aiming at the targets in the interactive video screens as we passed through. At first I was worried my son would be scared but he ended up really enjoying it!
I helped Donnie hit the targets and he loved it! Once the ride was over he kept saying “Again, again! One more time!”. Of course, we ended up going on the ride a couple more times since we enjoyed it so much!
In my opinion, one of the most awesome parts of LEGOLAND is Miniland.
In this section, we were able to get a birds eye view of the sights of Toronto's most famous landmarks such as the CN Tower, City Hall and the Trump Tower.
The amount of detail in Miniland was impressive! Below you can see one of Toronto's famous TTC streetcars making its way past Dundas Square and through the miniature city!
Once we finished taking in every detail of Miniland, we came to the main play area.
As soon as Donnie saw all the other kids playing and the mounds and piles of LEGO everywhere his excitement went through the roof!
LEGOLAND has different stations in various areas for children of different age groups, so there really is something for everyone. My son especially enjoyed Duplo Village where there were LEGO blocks for kids ages 2-5.
Donnie especially enjoyed trying to remove ALL of the large foam bricks from the LEGO pit in Duplo Village! He still needs to work on sharing with others! lol
Once we were able to pry Donnie away from Duplo Village, we had the awesome experience of visiting a 4D theatre inside LEGOLAND!
This was by far one of the best things LEGOLAND had to offer. Every 15 minutes the theatre plays one of four, 4D movies.
Yes, that is not a typo – these are 4D movies, not just 3D! There are live weather effects during each movie, such as blowing breezes and sprinklings of snow! We all really enjoyed this and returned several times to keep seeing the movies. I won't spoil anything about the plots of these little films, but they were all very fun to watch!
From some of my previous posts, you may know that I've been a fan of Star Wars since I was a kid. I immediately felt like a kid again when I noticed this guy over by their Star Wars Exhibit!
That is a life-size LEGO Darth Vader!
Below you can see a little bit of the Star Wars exhibit with the mini figures!
Towards the end of our visit I took my son on the ride in the picture below. He really enjoyed this and it was a great ride since it was possible to control how high the ride lifted into the air by peddling faster. It was great to be able to control this since I wasn't sure if he'd be scared once he got on the ride. Again, I was surprised! My little adventurer laughed and giggled with the ups and downs of the ride and wanted to go again!
This boy knows how to tire out his Mama, but it made me so happy to see how much fun he was having. 🙂
One of the great things about the location of LEGOLAND is that it's situated in Vaughn Mills Mall so it's very easy to find and get to by car. We traveled by public transit, so the time to get there was a little longer than we would have liked, but the travel time was totally worth it considering how much we enjoyed our visit!
There are so many other great things to do in LEGOLAND that I didn't cover in detail in this post. For example, there's a kids ball pit/climbing and slide area, a play house/kitchen area for little girls with a karaoke machine, and an area where kids can build and test their own LEGO racecars down a ramp. Oh and there's also a cafe if you're in need of lunch or a snack while you're visiting!
If you're in the Toronto area and you're looking for something the whole family will enjoy, you should definitely consider visiting the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre!
Have you visited the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Toronto or another location before?
I'd love to hear from you so please feel free to leave a comment in the comment section below!
