Crust
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
Filling
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup dark brown sugar (regular brown sugar is fine too)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup raisins (optional)
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, mix 1 1/2 cups flour and 1/4 cup sugar. Blend in 1/2 cup softened butter until the mixture is crumbly. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Bake the crust for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
- In a separate bowl, mix 1/2 cup melted butter with brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and 1 tbsp flour until smooth. Stir in raisins and nuts if using.
- Pour the filling over the baked crust.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the filling is set.
- Allow to cool in the pan, then cut into squares.
